String Inverter Or Hybrid Inverter
Power Source

A PV inverter converts direct current (DC) power from solar panels to alternating current (AC). In contrast, a Hybrid Inverter can convert both DC from solar panels and AC from the utility grid into AC electricity.

Installation

Typically, a PV Inverter is put in a single location, such as adjacent to a bank of solar panels. Nevertheless, because it is connected to the utility grid, a Hybrid Inverter must be installed at the main service panel.

Grid connection

A PV inverter does not require grid connection, but a Hybrid inverter requires. This implies that a Hybrid Inverter must comply with grid regulations and be energy efficient.

Battery Storage

A PV Inverter is not capable of storing energy, while a Hybrid Inverter is able to store energy in a battery. This battery can then be used to provide power during periods when the solar panels are not producing enough energy.

Cost

PV Inverters tend to cost less than Hybrid Inverters, as they are simpler devices.

Efficiency

Hybrid Inverters tend to be more efficient than PV Inverters as they are able to use energy from the grid when solar panels are not producing enough energy.

What is String Inverter?

String Inverter, also known as On-grid or grid-tied inverter, is a type of inverter that generates power by connecting to the grid. It automatically stops working when the grid is disconnected to comply with anti-islanding requirements. SolaX offers both single-phase and three-phase string inverters, ranging from 600W to 8kW and 3kW to 150kW respectively, to cater to different power needs.

What does a String Inverter do?

The main function of a photovoltaic inverter is to convert the direct current (DC) generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) that can be used by households or businesses. This process enables consumers to extract more energy from their solar panels and make use of the clean energy they generate. Additionally, the inverter can be programmed to regulate voltage and frequency based on customized settings, providing users with more stable and dependable power.

How long do solar String inverters last?

The lifespan of a solar photovoltaic inverter is largely determined by its quality. Typically, high-quality solar inverters can last for over 25 years.

How efficient is a String inverter?

The efficiency of a photovoltaic inverter is determined by its quality and output power. Higher quality solar photovoltaic inverters can generally achieve an efficiency of over 96%. However, the output power can affect the efficiency of the inverter. For example, if the output power increases, the productivity may decrease. Nevertheless, the overall efficiency will still remain above 90%.

Does string inverter support parallel?

Modbus solution is designed for the X3-PRO G2 and X1-BOOST G4 series of SolaX string inverters, and can support up to 5 inverters of different power sizes to be paralleled through Modbus. On the other hand, the Datahub solution is a datalogging device that can support all SolaX string inverters, including the X1-MINI G4, X1-BOOST G4, X3-MIC G2, X3-PRO G2, X3-MEGA G2, and X3-FORTH, with no limit on the maximum paralleling number.
